Katrina. Who is to blame?

Of course Katrina was Bush?s fault. According to the Media, every pending disaster, disaster and post-disaster is also Bushes fault. It?s as if all disaster information is first funneled into the White House, or Homeland Security, or FEMA to be released, at an undisclosed location, at a later date.

Folks, the run-up to Katrina was not classified information. It was available 24 hrs a day on Cable News, hourly on local television and every 15 minutes on hundreds of radio stations throughout the U.S.. The only thing more broadcast was Geico, Ditech and John Basedow--Fitness Made Simple ads.

Katrina, which hit on August 29th, was introduced as a catastrophic hurricane, possibly headed for the Louisiana and Mississippi coasts as early as August 26th. This was not a government secret. It was being tracked by the National Hurricane Center, with reports every 3 hours. See?http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/archive/2005/KATRINA.shtml

Now here is where we need to stop and take an inventory of personal responsibility. With all the available news services telling us a major hurricane was breathing down our necks, more people remained behind than would show up at a Grateful Dead concert offering free beer. In this case it was probably the same people.

If I lived next door to one of the category 3 levies being threatened with a Cat 4 or 5 hurricane, I would have lugged my sorry butt out of New Orleans, until Katrina blew over. But despite the warnings, many thousands decided to wait until Mayor Nagin, Governor Blanco or President Bush knocked on their doors and begged them to leave.

Need I remind you that Bush and Company were busy with a global War on Terror, an oil industry extorting shameless prices for energy, a foreign economic invasion, entitlement and pension obligations--that are bankrupting Americas biggest corporations and governing bodies--and a Liberal media bent on hounding this President from office. And while Katrina made her way toward shore, Democratic leaders opposed anything by, for and from Bush.

While the Left were wetting themselves with the possibility of blaming Katrina on this administration--due to global warming--tens of thousands remained in Katrina?s path for a whole host of reasons, not the least of which was that Big Government would bail them, if not chopper them out.

With Katrina 24 hours out-- at Category 4-- the wheels were coming off the evacuation train. Stupidity was epidemic as those that wouldn?t leave were melded with those that couldn?t leave. The indigent, who ignored the wall to wall warnings, refused to leave and magically morphed into victims entitled to rescue and support as wards of the State and Federal Governments.

While responsible evacuees ended up on floors, benches and basements in surrounding communities and States, the slackers ended up in high priced hotels and cruise ships at taxpayers expense. And after their 20 weeks of fame, thousands of these ungrateful ne?re-do-wells are leaving their luxurious accommodations in a shambles, a thoughtless thank-you to the rest of us.If Katrina has taught us nothing else, the aftermath will carry a price tag to be paid for by generations to come. Reality has collided with the Bureaucracy and environmental Whackos. Tens of thousands of relief trailers sit idle in Arkansas, because they cannot be set up in a flood zone. Refuse remains in the streets of New Orleans, as it is determined toxic and no regional landfill is deemed acceptable to receive it, nor is it allowed to be burned.

Add to this, Mayor Nagin, who has sucked all the disaster broadcast time from hundreds of surrounding communities. He has anointed New Orleans as ground zero for the relief effort. The City?s future depends on the reconstruction of levees that were supposed to have been rebuilt years ago. But those funds were redirected after ecologists protested and blocked storm surge construction. http://www.martinfrost.ws/htmlfiles/neworleans2.html

The pending reconstruction will face hurdles from Eco-Nazis and bureaucrats unparalleled in our times. Mark my word, the level of graft, mismanagement, corruption and fraud, connected with Katrina?s reconstruction, will one day soon make Halliburton blush.

Mulsim Makovers

So, what?s all the excitement over the Muslims taking over the operations of our ports? The Japanese invaded our auto industry over 30 years ago and it was such a success that Korea has joined them and they are now dominate forces in the industry. In fact, American manufacturing has been shipped offshore so much in the past 20 years, that if it stopped, the U.S. would shut down. Thanks to extortion and violence by American unions, China, Pakistan, Indonesia, Korea, India and Japan have inherited the supplying of goods for middle and low income America. Where was the outrage by Congress?

When the Tree Huggers decimated the timber industry with loony demonstrations to stop timber harvesting in the U.S., Big Timber took a page from Big Oil and consolidated their businesses. Now a handful of timber giants control the majority of private timber holdings and thrive on Eco-Nazi?s successes in tying up harvest of public lands. U.S. timber barons have also been successful in securing import duties on Canadian lumber, claiming Canadian lumber subsidies. Of course this has proven to be poppycock, but the tariffs remain. Where is the outrage by Congress?

Big U.S. oil companies, who control many proven fields, leave producing wells capped, manipulating the market, while they continue to acquire more leases in efforts to monopolize potential crude reserves. Of course this is not a conspiracy, it?s just good Oil business. But where?s the outrage by Congress?

Not satisfied with the foreign takeover of blue collar jobs, American corporations now outsource middle management, customer service and technical assistance positions overseas to lower costs. Where?s the outrage by Congress?

Japan sends hundreds of billions in products to our shores, but blocks our products to theirs in a hairball of red tape. Where is the outrage by Congress?

Well, I?ll tell you where it is. The outrage is always suspended until the offense is at the doorstep of the offended. And in the case of politicians, it remains suspended until their political donors, special interest groups, golf buddies or an angry mob of the truly offended, vociferously protests the offense.

Granted, the Whitehouse had a tin ear when it came to the Dubai takeover of U.S. ports. But Congress was tone deaf until the notion of a Muslim nation taking over strategic locations on U.S. soil hit the politically sensitive and were about as welcome as Cindy Sheehan at a Crawford, Texas BBQ.

Addicted to Oil?

President Bush claimed in his State of the Union that, " America is addicted to Oil". However, there is $.54 cents, or more, in Federal, State and Local taxes for a gallon of gas, but only about $.05 cents in net profit for Big Oil.

I would suggest Mr. President that State and Federal governments are far more addicted to Taxes.

History's Dirty Little Secrets

Reminders to the anti-War protestors:

a. FDR led us into World War II, with Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor.

b. Germany never attacked us, but we joined allies against them under this Democratic President. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost in WWII, an average of 112,500 per year.

c. Truman (a Democrat) finished WWII with the atom bomb and started another War in North Korea, even though they never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,334 per year.

d Vietnam never attacked us. but another Democrat, John F. Kennedy, engaged the U.S. in the Vietnam conflict in 1962.

e. President Johnson, a Democrat, turned Vietnam into a quagmire, which was handed over to Nixon. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost ..
an average of 5,800 per year.

f. Bosnia never attacked us, but President Clinton, a Democrat, went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent, ironically to save the Muslims from the Serbs. Over 105,000 lives were lost. Later, Osama, who had attacked U.S. interests on multiple occasions was offered to Clinton, on a platter, three times by Sudan and did nothing.

g. In the years since terrorists attacked us , President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaeda, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and, North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a tyrant, who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

In Iraq there were 39 combat related killings in January. In Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January.

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking. But It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation..

We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records, which were in her living room.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.

It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!!!!

The biased media hopes we are too ignorant to realize the facts

But Wait . There's more!

JOHN GLENN (ON THE SENATE FLOOR)
Mon, 26 Jan 2004 11:13

Some people still don't understand why military personnel do what they do for a living. This exchange between Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard Metzenbaum is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive impromptu speec! h, but it's also a good example of one man's explanation of why men and women in the armed services do what they do for a living.

This IS a typical, though sad, example of what some who have never served think of the military.

Senator Metzenbaum (speaking to Senator Glenn):
"How can you run for Senate
when you've never held a real job?"

Senator Glenn (D-Ohio):
"I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps.
I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions.
My plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire on 12 different occasions. I was in the space program. It wasn't my checkbook, Howard; it was my life on the line. It was not a nine-to-five job, where I took time off to take the daily cash receipts to the bank."

"I ask you to go with me ... as I went the other day...
to a veteran's hospital and look at those men ..
with their mangled bodies . in the eye, and tell THEM they didn't hold a job!

You go with me to the Space Program at NASA and go, as I have gone, to the widows and Orphans of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee...
and you look those kids in the eye and tell them that their DADS didn't hold a job.

You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in Arlington National Cemetery, where I have more friends buried than I'd like to remember, and you watch those waving flags.

You stand there, and you think about this nation, and you tell ME that those people didn't have a job?

What about you?"

For those who don't remember ..
During W.W.II, Howard Metzenbaum was an attorney representing the Communist Party in the USA.
Now he's a Senator!

Where are the WMDs and Osama Bin Ladin

Not a minute goes by that somewhere in cyber land a Bush-hating Liberal is typing "Where are the WMD’s?" or "Where’s Osama?" on his mommy’s computer and posting it on the Net. This practice is no longer the exception, it is the rule among anti-War liberals. It has become so bad that, ‘Where are the WMDs’ has become the Holy Grail mantra for the ‘Deaniac’ Liberals with visions of impeachment, dancing in their empty little heads.

Well, it’s time to review.

It’s true, in the past 3 years, Bush has failed to locate WMD’s, some smaller than a Volkswagen, in a country the size of California. He also has not captured Osama, who is believed hiding somewhere within thousands of square miles of hostile terrain, inhabited by mutton breath, cave dwelling, fundamentalists prepared to kill over a cartoon.

But, in five years the FBI couldn’t find Eric Robert Rudolph --the abortion clinic bomber-- who was never more than 50 miles from where he was captured.

Hillary couldn’t find the Rose Law firm billing records for 5 years and they were in her house.

It took investigators 3 inspections of Vince Foster’s briefcase, over several days, to find the torn pieces of his fingerprint free suicide note.

It took over 2 years, a Federal Grand Jury, and Presidential Impeachment proceedings for Clinton to admit he had inappropriate sexual contact with Monica Lewinsky.

And in 37 years, Ted Kennedy has never come clean with what happened in Chappaquiddick.
