Killing the messenger

It is with much amusement and not a little irony that I witness the goings on today.  Election fraud, mucho rallies, mondo lawsuits, media manipulation and Congressional asshats muddying Constitutional intent to mystify the sheeples.

I won’t imply that I am a psychic, but I felt this day was coming some 4 years ago.

It was in the late summer or early fall of 2016, I relayed a story I had gleaned from the Interwebs.  I told of a cab driver in Miami, who had picked up an early fare going from his hotel to the Miami airport.

The passenger was smartly dressed in a suit and was carrying a briefcase, headed to who-knows-where from Miami.  The conversation with the cabbie had evolved from the weather and flying to the state of affairs surrounding Donald Trump, the conservative pick of the American people.

For those that remember, Donald had bested an entire slate of nominees by his wit and wisdom to steel the hearts and minds of millions of Americans.  He was the one everyone had said they were waiting for.  A businessman and multi-billionaire, who was funding his own campaign and running to represent the people who elected him and not the dreaded special interests.

The traveler told the cabbie that he could end the caustic cabal against Trump in less than a week very easily.  He proposed dragging a half dozen liberal congressmen down the Capital steps, shoot them in the head and leave them in the street.  Because, he said, “the only thing that Liberals respect is power”.

I was impressed.  The posting encapsulated the heart and soul of the situation.  It wasn’t a mistake that I submitted this event to the Conservative Treehouse, a right of center blog hosted by “Sundance”, a mythical creature with excellent writing skills.  It was a mistake, when Sundance deleted my posting, under the guise of deleting a posting that advocated violence.

So, here we are, four years of media manipulation, unbridled and unprecedented attempts at unseating a sitting president, lying and intimidation by Congressional stooges, who act at the behest of multiple billionaires and not the folks that elected them, while either acting as if they are members of a party that supports the president or a party that hates the president.

Lives have been lost, property has been destroyed, businesses have been decimated and laws have been broken.  And now, an election has been corrupted, all because we couldn’t or wouldn’t do the right thing when we had the chance.  Every element of dishonesty and deceit has been leveled at this man and only a token number of scofflaws have been held accountable.

No, it wasn’t about my advocating violence, violence has already happened on its own.  It was about failing to see the obvious and stopping it before it festered.

On the bright side, Sundance has gone on to be one of the pre-eminent writers of the conservative movement.  On the other side, he/she has displayed a critical failure in the ability to see and convey what is right in front of them.

It isn’t because I didn’t care or that Sundance isn’t concerned, it is above my paygrade and way out of my wheelhouse to do anything about what is happening, I am but a humble plumber.  But is writers like Sundance to have the basic vision to see, that once the pin is pulled, not putting it back in is a recipe for disaster.
